Note: This putty sets up faster than commercial putty. I apply the putty with a small brush. I then clean the excess putty off by using a little extra whiting sprinkled over the window along with some fine, clean redwood shavings. The whiting acts as a desiccant or drying agent and the shavings act as an abrasive to help remove the excess putty. You can use any type of wood shavings. Stay away from sappy woods like pine. The wood shavings are softer than glass and won't scratch the glass or lead. Make sure your Putty, Whiting and Shavings stay clean. A small chip of glass can ruin your day.
